Catalyst is a UofN course for the the ongoing coaching and support for development of young potential leaders.
Catalyst course is a pioneering initiative that began out of YWAM KC under the name "Deployment" which coaches mission graduates into their placements and subsequent phases in life for ministry and character development.

WHY KONA?
4 million alumni have gone through some form of YWAM training in the last 55 years!
We have been seeking the Lord diligently for years on how best to walk with those transformed individuals as many return to their homes to walk out the call of God on their lives. One of the greatest opportunities that YWAM has lies in front of us and we intend to fully step into it. The Catalyst experience exists to serve, champion, and coach young pioneer leaders into walking out the missional calling on their lives in their context. The potential is massive!
The University of the Nation in Kona, HI is possibly the most ideal place in the world that we could launch this from. 1000, to 1200 students a year are being trained and sent on short term missions experiences. 80 to 90 percent are called back to their home towns to now walk out their missional calling in their context. They have passion, missional experience, love for the lost, and vision. By walking with these pioneers in their home context we believe we can see new and innovative missions movements started in nations all over the world by leaders who were given enough coaching and championing to really do what is in their hearts. We don't want these young pioneers to have to come back to YWAM if God has called them to walk this out in their home towns!

JESUS STYLE
Jesus purposefully offended the crowds to invest relationally in a few. He simplified the mission: Go make disciples. He did not say make converts. Our goal is for those we serve to stand on our shoulders and go further than we could have gone on our own. Unlike a program we are committed longterm to being family over function. I myself am a product of this ethos and have seen the tangible results in the lives of many others already.
Therefore I am convinced that this is the key to sustainable personal and regional transformation. Previously the YWAM DTS experience was comprised of two phases: lecture (three months) and outreach (two months). Now, out of YWAM-KC, a student has the potential of being selected to join the deployment phase for an additional three to twelve months of coaching and team support as they pioneer missional expressions in the particular city and societal sphere to which they are called. Deployment team members are also supported through various initiatives to bring YWAM teams to their location as well as to join in with future YWAM outreaches and campaigns.
